Description:
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Partnership Manager, Senior Tax Manager, and other finance managers to support Firm's partnership international tax functions
Essential Functions:
1.Develop strong, service-based relationships with other managers in Payroll, Human Resources, technology Services, and Deloitte to coordinate the international tax process.
2.Ensure exemplary client service to all internal and external clients; proactively promote client service throughout department and among teams; respond to peer requests with recognition that request serves a client or Firm need.
3.Consistently promote and model the Firm's Client Service Principles in leadership, teamwork, work product, and personal interaction.
Partnership Accounting/International Tax Services:
1.Working with the Partnership Manager, provide direction and hands on assistance to ensure all processes pertaining to partnership accounting are completed timely, accurately, and in accordance to the policies.
2.Interpret policy to ensure compliance with partnership agreement and procedures, as well as identifying inconsistencies between the policy and the process.
3.Initiate, develop and lead projects within Partnership Accounting to increase service, streamline procedures and ensure integrity of the data.
4.Working with the Sr. Tax Manager and Partnership Team, prepare individualized Schedule K-1's, and other relevant information for each expatriate partner. Maintain up to date knowledge of each partner's capital account and how it affects their tax liability.
5.Act as a resource for expatriate partners, their outside service providers, Partnership Manager, Sr. Tax Manager, International Human Resources and service provider regarding all tax questions.
6.Work closely with Partnership Manager and Sr. Tax Manager to ensure smooth workplan with expatriates. Provide in depth knowledge of hypothetical tax, tax equalization, cash flow and individual foreign taxes. Assure that proper hypothetical taxes are communicated to affected individuals and deductions are made in a timely and efficient manner.
7.Determine which allowances and costs are taxable either in the U.S. or on the foreign side.
8.Serve as firm tax resource in resolving expatriate partner and third country national tax issues.
9.Identify and participate in compensation schemes for expatriate partners to maximize tax planning opportunities.
10.Assist with the Finance/Accounting team with review and/or audit as conducted by outside CPA firm and various taxing authorities.
11.Develop and document systems, processes and procedures to track payments made to expatriate partners, as well as assist with budgeting and forecasting of monthly domestic and international cash flow.
12.Proactively identify, initiate and lead projects related to assigned accounts to increase the value of services to clients, partners.
Professional Development:
1.Remain current and apply expertise in domestic and international tax law, changes to law and their impact on the Firm.
2.Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
3.Ensure client service and performance consistently meet Career and Compensation Management Program (51CCMP51) expectations for Matrix Level 8.
4.Regularly review position against Matrix expectations and develop goals to further increase position value.
Other Duties:
1.Other duties as assigned, including participation on projects that increase the value of Accounting and Tax services to partners, their accountants, and the Firm.
Qualifications:
1.Bachelor's degree in Accounting; MBA in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration desirable: CPA or CMA certification preferred.
2.At least five years related experience
3.Law firm or professional services background with international/expatriate accounting and taxation preferred.
